This is a text description of Figure 7-11, "Modes Dialog Box".

The text surrounding the figure describes the use of this dialog box.

The figure is a screen capture image and contains example data that may not match your system. You must make selections appropriate for your system. The window title bar has the name: "Modes - ocelot".

The client area* has two sections. One section contains several lines of data. The other section (which is located at the right edge of the client area) is a column of seven buttons.

The top five buttons in the column are labeled (from top to bottom):

  1. "Add"

  2. "Delete"

  3. "Modify"

  4. "Copy"

  5. "Make default"

The lower two buttons are separated from the upper five buttons by a space. The lower two buttons are labeled:

  1. "Help"

  2. "Done"

Only the "Add", "Help", and "Done" buttons have clear labels, which indicates that they are functional under the given conditions. The other four buttons have labels with incomplete letters to indicate that these buttons are not functional under the given conditions.

In the client area, the term "Defined modes" is displayed at the top with an outline to indicate that this line is active (it has been selected). The first part of the line has an icon of two small rectangles that are connected by a Z-shaped path to indicate a link between two computers. This same icon is displayed at the beginning of each mode definition line.

The "Defined modes" line has been selected by choosing the "Add" button. Its box covers part of a line in the list below it. The remaining seven lines in the list below it are displayed with a separation and are in vertical alignment, similar to columns in a table:

CPSVCMG (SNA defined mode)
CPSVRMGR (SNA defined mode)
IBMRDB
ORAPLU62
ORASYN62
QPCSUPP (SNA defined mode)
SNASVCMG (SNA defined mode)

The section of the client area with the list of defined modes has vertical and horizontal scroll bars (with scroll boxes and scroll arrows) to reveal portions of the window that may have scrolled out of view.

*client area (or pane) refers to the information section within the window frame or border.
